dc.description.abstractThis study examined the determinants of stress among tertiary Institutions academic staff, a study of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the root cause of stress on the academic staff of tertiary institutions and the effect of stress on the academic staff of tertiary institutions. The research used primary source of data applied via questionnaire and interview method to a sample of 303 respondents from the selected tertiary (Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka). The findings revealed a significant relationship between stress and the academic staff performance and concluded that a significant relationship does exist. The studies recommend among others that academic staff should not be overloaded with course work and other administrative responsibilities as well the establishment of s thorough communication system in the tertiary institution.
