Assessment of Inhibitive Drugs for Corrosion Inhibition Applications in Petrochemical Plants – A Review

Abstract

The world is paying more attention and trying to eliminate the use of substance that are toxic to human and the environment. The use of some organic and inorganic corrosion inhibitors exhibit toxicity and research has been ongoing on the use of eco-friendly substitutes. Plant extract, dyes and drugs have shown good corrosion inhibitive capabilities and this work gives a summary of several works that have been done on the use of drugs as efficient corrosion inhibitors for mild steel which is mostly used in the petroleum and petrochemical industry in acidic media such as HCl and H2SO4.
